Community Rules
1. Why these rules exist
1.1. Selm is a place for fan stories and their readers. These rules keep it interesting and safe. They supplement the Terms of Use.
1.2. The rules apply to everything you publish: stories, titles, descriptions, comments, your profile and messages.
2. What we welcome
- Bold ideas, alternate endings, dark and mature plots — honestly labelled.
- Respectful criticism that helps the author grow.
- Remixes that take a story further instead of copying it.
- Naming the source work and being clear that it’s a fan version.
3. What’s not allowed
3.1. Never allowed:
- any sexual content involving minors, including fictional characters described or depicted as minors;
- explicit pornographic descriptions;
- promotion of terrorism or extremism, calls to violence;
- instructions for making weapons or drugs or for harming yourself or others, promotion of suicide;
- illegal content.
3.2. Also not allowed:
- harassment, threats, insults and discrimination against users and real people;
- publishing other people’s personal data;
- defamatory or sexualised stories about real people;
- other people’s texts without the author’s permission — including other users’ fan fiction and large passages of original works;
- spam, advertising, inflating stars or followers, fake accounts, fraud;
- impersonating another person, a rights holder or a Selm representative;
- malicious links, hacking attempts and getting around the Service’s limits, including with the AI.
4. The 18+ label
4.1. Mark a story 18+ if it contains detailed cruelty or violence, sexual themes (without graphic descriptions), drug use or other adult themes.
4.2. 18+ stories are hidden from anyone who hasn’t turned them on and confirmed their age.
4.3. If an unlabelled story breaks this rule, we may add the label ourselves or hide the story.
5. Spoilers
5.1. If your version reveals the plot of recently released episodes, chapters or books, warn readers in the description. Stories with unannounced spoilers may be reported and reviewed.
6. Comments
6.1. Discuss the story, not the author. Keep criticism constructive. A story’s author can delete comments under it.
7. The AI co-author
7.1. The author who publishes AI-assisted text is responsible for it. You may not use the AI to create prohibited content or to get around these rules.
8. How to report
8.1. Tap “⋯” → “Report” on a story, comment, profile or work and choose a reason: spam, abuse, inappropriate content, copyright, spoiler or other. You can add a note.
8.2. The Team reviews reports. The author doesn’t learn who reported them. Rights holders’ notices follow a separate procedure.
9. What we do about violations
9.1. Depending on how serious and repeated a violation is, we may: close the report without action, add an 18+ label, hide the content, remove the story from the feed, delete the content or block the account.
9.2. You can appeal through the support chat — explain why you think the decision was wrong.
