Cookies and On-Device Storage
1. The Selm website
1.1. The website sets no cookies.
1.2. Persistent browser storage (localStorage):
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
selm.site.theme |
Light or dark theme, if you switched it manually |
selm.site.analytics |
Your answer to the statistics notice: count visits or not |
1.3. Tab storage (sessionStorage) — cleared when you close the tab:
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
selm.site.session |
Marks that this visit was already counted |
selm.site.src |
Where you came from (for example, google or direct), so links to the app can pass it on |
selm.site.cta |
Marks that your first button click was already counted |
1.4. Statistics. When you open a page or tap “Open in Telegram”, the website sends our server a short event: the page address, where you came from, the language and which button it was. We keep only daily totals — no IP address, cookies or identifiers — so we can’t tell who visited.
1.5. If Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is on in your browser, no events are sent.
1.5.1. On your first visit the website shows a statistics notice. “Don’t count” turns events off in this browser; you can change your mind with the “Site statistics” link at the bottom of any page.
1.6. Fonts are served from our own website, without Google Fonts or other third-party services.
1.7. Live demo. If you launch the demo on the home page, the Selm app opens inside it, with its own storage described below.
2. The Selm app
2.1. The app doesn’t use cookies either. It keeps technical data in Telegram’s browser storage:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Sign-in session | So you don’t have to sign in every time |
| Language, theme, reading settings and audio speed | To remember your choices |
| Where you stopped in audio, recent searches, feed filters | For convenience |
| 18+ age confirmation (when you’re not signed in) | So you aren’t asked again |
| Drafts of a story being created and of an unsent support message, technical markers | So you don’t lose input; cleared when closed |
2.2. Telegram’s script that powers Mini Apps, and the Adsgram ad module (if ads are on), may use their own storage under their rules.
3. How to control it
3.1. You can clear the website’s and app’s data in your browser or Telegram settings. This resets your settings and, in a browser, signs you out.
